What is the S&P 500 — Should you Invest in the S&P 500
You've probably heard about the S&P 500 stock market index. It's what most people consider to be "the market" and it gives us good insight as to what the entire stock market is doing. What exactly does S&P 500 mean? This index is made up of a variety of companies of various sectors. For those of us that don't know much about investing, it can be a great choice providing the diversification needed for a well rounded portfolio in just one product. However, depending on your circumstances, there are better choices. When should you choose the S&P 500 and when should you seek alternatives? Take a look at what companies make up this index and its pros and cons to decide if it's the right choice for you.
Would you buy an S&P500 fund?
No. I just sold it. I think today’s highest value is its maximum.
Even better when you enter on a nice pullback with a 1:500 lol
@Chris Invests hi Chris, thanks for the video. I’m new to trading and looking for some one to one mentoring/coaching for S&P500 futures investing. Do you offer such service?

Awesome video Chris! I am a fan of the global index as a UK based investor personally. S&P 500 has been pretty tough to beat though!
Thank you! The S&P sure is a great choice 😁
Great vid man, I took some notes. Thanks🤙
Thanks for watching, Brandon 🙂
Warren Buffet would disagree, he bet Hedge funds $1million that the S&P 500 would out perform any selected portfolios over the past 10 years. That was in 2008 and in 2018 he won that bet
I dont care
@Terry Tripp Lmaoo
Also done care. We are up and coming people, we don’t day trade we let our money grow long term.
I’m completely new to this and I’m confused on when you get paid. Is it yearly or what?
You receive dividends (usually quarterly) and the price fluctuates daily
@Chris Invests I thought you would get payed when you exited the market. Maybe clarify this in your next video!
Love this vid thanks but I’ve noticed so many types of S&P 500 index wtf, which one would you recommend? VOO, VTI?
VOO tracks the S&P 500 but VTI doesn’t
@Chris Invests thanks I’ve just subscribed. Thanks for taking the time to answer. Which one is your personal fav?
One last question? What about SPY?
@Jason Loop SPY is the same thing as VOO, just a different company and more expensive. My favorite is VUG.
Thank you

@Jeena Llake what’s your trading platform? And what’s Mr. Chapman trading platform? Do you copy and trade from Mr Chapman with the same platform?
@Chong Lan Sang me I trade with etoro. But Chapman uses browntrio investments
I don’t copy his trade. He does and give me profit after the trading.
I’m new to investing and I’m trying to find somewhere to start with least risk and long term is this the best to go with??

How much do you have in it
Hey Chris great video. Did not know of growth index fund. Is it ticker VUG? I currently hold VOO for my Roth IRA and this next year I usually fund all 6k from day 1, I’ll be funding my 6k for 2022 into VUG I did notice the 5 year growth of VUG is higher than VOO so thank you for exposure to this fund was not aware of it. Love your channel. I’m first generation stock market investor and Roth IRA investor in my family and sometimes day trader usually take my profits from options trading and then I sink into my blue chip stocks and that’s how I also fund my Roth IRA from options trading
Thanks for watching! VUG is a more aggressive vanguard etf than VOO but there are many. It’s probably the most popular though.
You should add that although growth stock index funds have outperformed the market in the last decade, this has not always been the case. In the past century, value index funds have outperformed growth funds during most 5, 10 and 20 year time periods (Ben Felix and Paul Merriman have some good videos explaining this. You could also research Fama and French directly too since this is who they will often refer to). I’m not saying you should buy either growth or value. But you shouldn’t think that just because things have been a certain way in recent years that they will continue to be that way. People have short memories.
